Raw materials

Raw materials for the production of Cellular Fibro Concrete are cement, lime, slag, fly ash, sand and other different siliceous fills (finely comminuted), organic additives, polymers, pigments, waste products from the petrochemical industry and special additives.

Requirements to the raw materials

Portland cement, conforming to the following standards: DIN 1164 (Germany), BS 12(England), АСТМ С150 (USA), ГОСТ 31108-2003(Russia) brands CEM 1, ПЦ 500 Д0 and above, with or without active mineral additives. Requirements to the mineral composition: C3S > 50%, C3A  7% – 10%, C2(A2F) < 10%, Blake's specific surface area 3000 – 4500, N2O + K2O < 1%.

Mineral fills: fly ash from coal burning, ash-slag mixtures, quarts sand, lime, mixtures of the mentioned additives. The mineral additives should conform to the requirements of the applicable standards or technical conditions, as follows:

  • construction sands, conforming to: ГОСТ 8736-93, ASTM C 778(USA), Standard Specification for Standard Sand with composition: SiO2 > 75%, Fe2O3 < 3%, CaO < 5 %, MgO < 2%, N20 +K2O < 2 %, SO3 < 3 %, Al2O3 < 10 %, losses at burning – < 5%, chlorides – < 0.05 %, clay in volume – <  3%. Practically all kinds of construction sands used for production of concrete are applicable;
  • fly ash, conforming to: ГОСТ 25818-91, ASTM C618 - 08a(USA) «Standard Specification for coal fly ash and raw material or calcined natural trass for application in concrete»  with composition: SiO2 > 45%, Al2O3 < 10 – 30%, Fe2O3 < 10%, CaO < 5 %, MgO < 2%, N2O + K2O < 2%, SO3 < 3%, losses at burning < 5 %, chlorides – <  0.05% (example - flue ashes from burning Ekhibastuski coal in Kazahstan);
  • slags from ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, conforming to ГОСТ 5578-94.(Russia) - «Crushed stone and sand from slags from ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy». The slag from ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy is a glass-like bulk material formed in the process of fast cooling of melted blast-furnace slag immersed in water. Slag is a non-metallic product consisting of calcium silicate and alumino-silicate and other compounds, obtained in melted state together with iron in the blast-furnace. (example - slag from the Nijnetagilsk metallurgical production plant (Russia);
  • carbonate rocks, conforming to ASTM С 294-56(USA). Example - dolomite from the quarry near the town of Pugachiov in the Saratov Region, Russia, with chemical composition: CaO - 31.26%, MgO - 18,61%, SiO2 - 3.8%, Fe2O3 - 0,19%, SO3 - 0,12%, Na2O - 0,06%, K2- 0,24%, Al2O3 - 0,56%, losses at burning - 44,19%.

THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED ABOVE ARE IDEAL.

High quality Cellular Fibro Concrete can be produced even when some deviations from the above specifications exist. Final data and equipment breakdown are determined after local conditions are taken in consideration.
